I am a strong believer that everyone should be able to have a life of music. That's why I became a teacher. Whether you're a just a beginner or an advanced student needing guidance, let's explore music together!
I offer both group and private lessons, separated by skill level, for many different instruments. If you're unsure about which level is appropriate for you please contact me to discuss how I can help you start on your musical journey or refresh skills you once had.
And I've been in love with music for as long as I can remember. As a child, all I dreamed of was becoming a teacher, and I've been fortunate to blend this dream with my passion for music into a career spanning over 40 years. My journey in music started unexpectedly - with a guitar gifted to me on my 11th birthday. It was a practical choice by my parents, as a piano was out of reach at the time. Little did I know this guitar would open up a new world for me, especially under the guidance of an excellent classical guitar teacher.
My dedication to music grew, and I eventually got the piano I always wanted. I was blessed to win an academic scholarship for my high school studies and later pursued a Diploma of Teaching in Music and Maths, followed by a Bachelor of Education. My love for learning never waned, leading me to further my studies with additional piano teaching and music theory diplomas under Rhona Morton. I even delved into special needs education to support all my students better.
Throughout my career, I've taught at several schools, coordinated music classes, and won awards for my early childhood music education contributions. Now based in Boonah, I teach at my home studio and various local schools. But what truly fulfils me now is the opportunity to mentor other teachers, sharing the insights and skills I've gained over the years. Joining this journey of music education, not just as a teacher but also as a learner, has been the most rewarding experience of my life.
I've chosen the curriculum designed to provide a comprehensive music education, covering a wide range of styles and genres. I offer lessons in piano, guitar, violin, and cello.
I believe that performing is an essential part of learning music. That's why I offer opportunities for my students to showcase their skills in the local community.
